BNN
Bundesverband Naturkost Naturwaren Herstellung und Handel e.V. (Organic Processors and Traders Association) represents the interests of the organic food sector on a political and economical level. The association participates in the constitution of national and international legislative projects, for example in the enhancements of the EU-Organic Regulations. Furthermore, it issues press relations and is active in public relations.

Quality
assurance of organic food and natural goods as well as further
development of quality standards are vital concerns of BNN Herstellung
und Handel .The association adopts quality guidelines and
recommendations, for example the BNN Flavour Recommendation and the
resolution about declaration of all product ingredients. The
BNN Monitoring for fruit und vegetables
in the organic food sector as well as the BNN database for oil analyses
complete the established process controls in the whole food sector and
is currently in progress.
Sensory properties of organic food is one basic topic for the association. BNN has be involved in the project
“Öko-Geschmackssiegel – Eco Taste Mark”
in 2004. Every year BNN organises seminars about organic taste,
especially for the employees of organic retailers and for producers and
wholesalers in Germany.
BNN Herstellung und Handel
offers various possibilities for a dialog between member companies and
promotes the open exchange of information and views in the whole food
sector. Among the members are producers, traders, distributors and
importers of organic products.
The association and
its members are involved in the further development of the market for
organic food and natural products and thereby also in the creation and
maintenance of employment in the regions.
BNN Herstellung und Handel is a member of
IFOAM (International Federation of Agriculture Movements) and BÖLW
(Bund Ökologische Lebensmittelwirtschaft).
