A+F
Within the Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR), A+F (Agrotechnology and Food Sciences Group)
works towards healthy, tasty and safe foods; bio based economy; and
quality driven configuration and directing of chains and networks. A+F
has unique facilities & equipment, and pilot-scale facilities for
food and non-food processing. Within the A+F, the business unit Centre
of Innovative Consumer Studies (CICS) is developing research programs
focusing on factors that influence healthy food choice of consumers.

The
‘Restaurant of the Future’ is the main research facility of the Centre
for Innovative Consumer Studies, where a wide range of controlled
research is carried out under different circumstances to gain a better
understanding of the interaction among product, consumer and situation.
Probably the first of its kind in the world, the restaurant is a
cutting-edge innovative facility for multi-facetted research to study
real-time food choice and eating behavior by manipulating product
presentation, packing, lighting, smell, decoration, etc.
The
centre also has a separate sensory laboratory where trained panels are
used for judging products on their sensory aspects. In addition, tests
are done on special target groups on-site.
